New edge AI infrastructure will support UAS growth, aerospace mapping, and mission readiness at the nation’s premier commercial UAS flight operations center
GrandSKY today announced the arrival of Triton, Armada’s 40-foot Galleon modular data center designed to bring high-performance AI computing closer to the missions, aircraft, sensors and operators that need it most. The deployment marks the first modular data center of its kind in North Dakota and a new milestone for the state’s rapidly growing uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) ecosystem.
Located at GrandSKY, Triton is powered by Armada Edge Platform and developed to help customers process large volumes of mission data locally, reduce reliance on distant cloud infrastructure and support faster decision-making for UAS operations, aerospace mapping, asset inspection, security, intelligence, counter-UAS, logistics and other commercial and defense missions.

GrandSKY’s position on Grand Forks Air Force Base, access to a 12,351-foot runway, 24/7 operations and more than 11,000 square miles of beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) capability have made it a national hub for UAS testing, training and development. Adding modular AI infrastructure at the site gives operators and developers a new tool to analyze sensor data, train and evaluate models, support mapping workflows, and accelerate the transition from flight testing to operational use.

operations, and BVLOS innovation. The deployment of Triton adds a new infrastructure layer to that ecosystem at a time when UAS operations are generating increasing demand for local compute, faster analytics and AI-enabled mission support.

Unlike traditional brick-and-mortar data centers, Triton is designed for rapid deployment in a compact footprint without the need to pour concrete. For defense and national-security users, Triton provides an environment for AI, analytics, sensor processing, mission applications, and local data storage, wherever cloud connectivity is constrained, contested, or unavailable.
