Washington D.C. Advocacy Trip

The Internet Marketing Association hosted its second annual Washington, D.C. Advocacy Trip on May 7-9, 2014. A delegation of CEOs, CMO and other top executives participated in a number of seminars and meetings with key decision makers in Washington, focusing on matters of critical importance to our members.

Hosted at the historic Hay Adams hotel, the trip featured on site seminars and events in the hotel’s stunning ball rooms and rooftop terrace with unparalleled panoramic views of the White House, Lafayette Square, Lafayette Park and St. John’s Church, the “Church of the Presidents”.

The group then traveled to Capitol Hill for a series of visits with policy makers. These visits strategically occurred with Congressional Leaders to discuss the keys ways that the IMA can help drive forward policies in key areas, including technology & cyber security.

IMA started off the trip with a visit with Colonel Krumm, special assistant to Secretary Chuck Hagel.  IMA is working on advancing the conversation on technology and applications as it relates to defense, homeland security and internet privacy.

Next, the group met with Heads of the United States Congress (Sanchez-D, Royce-R, Schiff-D, Denh-R, Farenthold-R), department of technology, internet and communications converge with IMA leaders on pressing business, economic and technology issues for our country and world.

Dinner that night featured guest appearances from Frank Italiano of Google, Richard King (director of dept of energy) and Joe Green, founder of Causes/fwd.us join IMA for our launch dinner in Washington D.C.

The highlight of our trip, was a special visit to the White House. It was an emotional experience that words cannot explain. IMA is honored to have shared this moment with the Board of Directors and the leadership of the IMA.
