The mission of Southern California-based nonprofit Project Access is to be the leading provider of vital on-site health, education, and employment services to families, children, and seniors living in affordable housing communities across the nation.

The leadership of our organization envisions that all residents of affordable housing communities have the opportunity to achieve self-sufficiency and maximize their full potential.

Project Access’ first resource center opened in Santa Ana, California in 1999, and since then, its presence has grown to over 75 communities across the nation. This year, Project Access anticipates serving over 22,000 individuals

We were delighted to receive the 2020 Impact Award for Best Non-Profit Internet Marketing Campaign in recognition of our organization’s rapid response to the pandemic using Internet-based resources to stay connected with families, children and seniors living in affordable housing communities around the nation.

When the pandemic hit, the Project Access teams quickly developed and implemented a plan of action. As its service model is to closely connect with residents, and connect them to one another, the team strove to assure support during the unprecedented crisis, including communicating COVID-19 information and updates into many languages.

Project Access teams met virtually online on a daily basis to continually evolve programs to meet the changing needs of residents. A comprehensive online Resident Resource Library was launched and donated laptops, tablets, and PCs to help combat the digital divide and keep youth on track with their education were distributed.

“We are honored to receive this award that acknowledges the perseverance and undaunted spirit of our Project Access team members to serve our residents during an unprecedented crisis,” said Project Access CEO and President Kristin Byrnes.

There are a number of ways that individuals and companies can get involved with Project Access. Our Corporate Adopt-A-Center Partnership directs funds from participating banks directly to support programs for under-resourced individuals conducted on-site at our Resource Centers.

Our Corporate Engagement provides an enriching and rewarding experience for corporate employees looking to make a difference in the lives of others in need. Project Access relies on corporate engagement to support our events and our mission, as well as corporate volunteers to share their experience, expertise, skills and time with the low-income families and seniors we serve.

Project Access partners with owners and other community stakeholders of affordable housing communities to provide services that help families and seniors become healthier, further educated, and financially stable

We also partner with organizations with an expertise in health and wellness, education for youth, economic stability and other critical areas to meet the needs of our community.
