Dreamstar Lines Joins AIPRO Rail in Support of Private-Sector Approaches to Improving U.S. Passenger Rail Travel

Dreamstar Lines, a firm focused on transforming the overnight rail travel experience, has joined the Association of Innovative Passenger Rail Operators (AIPRO Rail). The organization unites rail sector stakeholders like Dreamstar that are dedicated to expanding, operating and enhancing passenger rail service across the United States.

AIPRO Rail brings together passenger rail operators, union leaders, technical experts and public partners to build solutions that scale. Its members operate and support rail systems that carry over 60 million passengers annually across the United States. The organization advocates for policies that promote greater innovation, efficiency and competition within the passenger rail sector.

Some $2 trillion is spent annually on domestic travel in the U.S., primarily going to highway and aviation. In comparison to Europe and Asia, today’s passenger rail industry has been left behind. It needs investment, increased private partnering and innovation.

At the same time, today’s rail industry is expensive, government-led and closed to innovation. Due to these conditions, premium rail options in the nation have lagged significantly behind other countries around the world.

Dreamstar Lines is creating premium overnight sleeper train service for medium-distance routes between major metro areas, with private suites and tech-first amenities. The concept is designed to replace the hassles of airline and automobile travel on these routes with a stress-free and rejuvenating experience, with travelers arriving refreshed in the morning for the day’s planned activities.

“We believe we are uniquely positioned to address systemic failures in U.S. transportation and rail service with a private-sector alternative that is customer-focused and based on innovation,” said Dreamstar CEO Joshua Dominic. “We see a clear opening to catalyze a broad transformation of the industry. It’s not just a business opportunity. It’s a once in a century opportunity to redefine how Americans travel, connect and live.”

Potential users of the Dreamstar service include business travelers, families, tourists and anyone else dissatisfied with existing travel options. The initial route planned for Dreamstar service will be between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

AIPRO President Ray Chambers welcomed Dreamstar into the organization. He said, ”Overnight sleeper service between city pairs is expanding in Europe. We are about to enter a renaissance of American passenger rail. The Dreamstar Lines plan adds a critical element.”
