Going Virtual 360 and Viral with IMPACT friend Krolczyk and the Blue Angels

Impact23 attendee Dan Krolczyk with CreatorUp recently embarked on an exhilarating venture by joining forces with Paramount TV/CBS to film six captivating 360 VR news vignettes utilizing filmed and edited in 360VR. While locally, Krolczyk has worked on custom video and animation projects with West Coast University, Oakley, Strategic Global Advisor, and Edwards LifeSciences, this project went skyward, virtual and viral.

This innovative collaboration with CBS President, Scott Warren is challenging legacy news storytelling, offering viewers an immersive and dynamic experience like never before.  The project started from a digital transformation project between Warren and Krolczyk where they both discussed meteorologist and US Army reserve pilot, Jessica Burch having the rare chance to fly in a vintage T33 Air Force jet. The video was the first in the series and has exceeded a million views across social and inside Meta’s VR channel.

Dan Krolczyk, Vice President and General Manager at CreatorUp, expressed his excitement about the limitless potential of spatial 360VR storytelling. He emphasized how this collaboration with Paramount TV/CBS marks a significant milestone in the evolution of immersive content creation. Krolczyk believes that the fusion of cutting-edge technology, extended, trained filmmakers and compelling storytelling will redefine the way people engage with news, opening up a new realm of possibilities for content creators and open doors for corporate training.  We used cinematic 360VR cameras that are pre-launch professional grade only including the $40,000 Meta Three highest resolution device and top filmmakers in VR including Hugh Hou.

The project’s included a VR story of a Tahoe ski family living with severe autism, a story of Santa Cruz redwoods surviving fire, driverless Waymo cars,  the most dangerous jobs of Bar Pilot sea captains & more.  As the demand for immersive content continues to soar with the advent of the new Apple Vision Pro, new Meta Quest 3, and event more headsets in the next year, CreatorUp anticipates that more clients will take flight into the realm of spatial storytelling & experiential training, propelling the industry towards an exciting and limitless future.
