Orange County United Way brought together community leaders, philanthropists and changemakers for the 22nd Annual Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast — held at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.
This year’s theme spotlighted the transformative power of motherhood and mentorship. Through an insightful “Mothers and Mentors” panel, attendees heard from remarkable women whose personal stories and values shaped the lives of their equally remarkable children.
Cynthia Germanotta, President and Co-founder of the Born This Way Foundation and mother of Lady Gaga, spoke candidly about youth mental health and the strength found in living authentically.
Helen Wilmot, SVP at Stanford Health Care and mother to Olympic gold medalist Tierna Davidson, reflected on her immigrant roots and the lessons she carried forward in parenting and leadership.
Heshmat Behzadi, celebrated poet and mother of entrepreneur and billion-dollar CEO Shirin Behzadi, reminded us of the enduring influence of compassion, language and advocacy.
The panel was expertly moderated by Scharrell Jackson, international keynote speaker and longtime supporter of the Women’s Philanthropy Fund, who brought depth and humanity to each story shared.
In true spirit of action, the event concluded with attendees assembling personal care kits for women supported by Orange County United Way’s programs — a meaningful way to give back immediately.
The Women’s Philanthropy Fund directly supports local initiatives that empower OC women and children — including financial literacy programs, education initiatives and crisis intervention services.
Thank you to Co-Chairs Haunani Nakabara (Intuitive) and Dawn Behnke (Pacific Life), and thank you to BMO for championing this year’s event.
