Founded by friends Jeff Cova, Noah McMahon, and celebrated winemaker Jesse Katz, The Setting Wines is a boutique luxury wine brand dedicated to producing expressive wines from some of the most prestigious vineyards throughout the Napa, Sonoma, and Willamette Valleys.
Coming from philanthropic backgrounds, Jeff and Noah partnered with renowned winemaker Jesse Katz in 2014 to establish The Setting Wines. Since its inception, the brand has been unwavering in its commitment to producing exceptional wines, but also to making a positive impact—both big and small—on others. Its limited-production wines strike a harmonious balance between sophistication and approachability, inviting anyone to experience joy in everyday occasions, regardless of setting or wine prowess. Moreover, the brand’s commitment to philanthropy is exemplified in its ongoing charity involvement, most notably demonstrated by the record-breaking sale of its 2019 Glass Slipper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon—a 6 liter bottle that fetched $1 Million at Emeril Lagasse Foundation’s 17th annual Carnivale du Vin event wine auction.
The Setting’s success is underscored by regular critical acclaim for its wines. Just recently, the 2021 vintage Cabernet Sauvignons each received impressive 95-97 point scores from the top wine critics, along with scores of 93-95 points for the 2022 Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc.
Though The Setting Wines was founded in Northern California, winemaker Katz has long admired and appreciated the wines of Oregon, and is thrilled to be working with Oregon fruit for the brand’s newly released 2021 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. Highlighting the special characters of Oregon’s exceptional Chehalem Mountains AVA, these beautiful wines are the perfect addition to The Setting’s impressive line-up of Bordeaux varietal wines, also garnering excellent scores of 94-95+ from critics like James Suckling and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
Beyond the vines, The Setting’s commitment to excellence extends to its two tasting rooms, including the newest location at The Setting Inn in the heart of the Willamette Valley.
