NEWARK, N.J. (April 21, 2026) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced Ed Wilkes has been promoted to Principal, based in the company’s Newark, NJ office. In this role, he will continue to provide leadership to civil engineering teams across eight offices firmwide.

Wilkes has been instrumental in the growth of the firm’s Civil Engineering practice throughout the Northeast and beyond. He built the Newark and New York civil teams from the ground up and was a driving force behind the launch of the Washington DC, Atlanta and Miami teams. His impact has been driven by strategic business development, client service and a commitment to operational excellence. Within the firm, Wilkes also contributes actively to Ware Malcomb’s Civil Advisory Team (CAT), where he helps shape practice-wide standards, strategy, and innovation.
Wilkes joined Ware Malcomb in September 2019, bringing strong experience in the civil engineering and land development fields. His expertise includes site feasibility studies, conceptual planning and site layout, grading and drainage design, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, erosion and sediment control design, utility design, regulatory permitting and construction oversight. Wilkes has served as an expert and appeared on behalf of clients before planning and zoning boards, as well as regulatory agencies throughout the Northeast U.S. region.
Wilkes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The College of New Jersey and a Master of Business Administration degree from Rutgers University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and has been an active member of the National Association of Office and Industrial Parks (NAOIP), Urban Land Institute (ULI), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC).
