These are individuals who preserve and celebrate the history, traditions and values of their ancestry while exemplifying the values of the American way of life, and who are dedicated to creating a better world.

Past Ellis Island Medalists have included seven U.S. Presidents, three world leaders, several Nobel Prize winners and countless leaders in industry, education, the arts, sports and government as well as everyday Americans who have made freedom, liberty and compassion a part of their life’s work.

For the medal presentation event, Ellis Island is closed to the public as honorees and their guests arrive via a private ferry. More than 300 service members participate in an opening ceremony that includes a joint-service color guard representing all five branches of the military. HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia to Attend Savoy Foundation’s Second Annual Charity Gala in the City of Stars Benefiting Caterina’s Club

The Prince of Venice and The Prince of Piedmont will be the Guest of Honor at the “Notte di Savoia Los Angeles” on April 6, 2019 at the Montage Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, California – March 8, 2019 — HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy will be the guest of honor at the second annual Notte di Savoia charity gala on April 6, 2019 in Los Angeles.  The white- and black-tie charity gala, taking place at the Montage Beverly Hills Resort, will benefit Caterina’s Club, which provides 25,000 weekly warm meals, affordable housing assistance, and job training to homeless and low-income families throughout Southern California.  The Notte di Savoia has been organized by the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, continuing the spirit and tradition of charitable giving and hospitaller care of the historic, dynastic orders of knighthood and merit of the thousand-year old Royal House of Savoy.

The elegant Mediterranean-style Montage Beverly Hills will provide the sumptuous surroundings for the Notte di Savoia, recreating the traditions and pageantry reminiscent of 19th-century European court events. Following a glittering outdoor reception on the elevated terrace, dignitaries and guests, with gentlemen resplendent in tailcoats and wearing colorful chivalric and military decorations, and ladies in formal gowns, will proceed to dinner in the Marquesa Ballroom to strains of historic Savoy royal anthems and marches popular when Italy was a monarchy under the House of Savoy.

The guest of honor, His Royal Highness Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, is the grandson of the late King Umberto II, Italy’s last reigning sovereign. His ancestor, King Victor Emmanuel II, united the nation of Italy under his rule between 1861 and 1870.

Prince Emanuele Filiberto said:  “The Savoy Orders are my family’s ancient orders of knighthood which date back to the Crusades. They have traditionally been devoted to charitable works, and recognize individuals for their contributions in public service, medicine, the arts, music, government, business and philanthropy. Caterina’s Club and the work of Chef Bruno Serato, a Savoy knight, is a great and contemporary cause to support in our royal tradition of assistance to the less fortunate,” the Prince concluded.

The American Delegation of Savoy Orders, through its charitable arm, the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, contributes to humanitarian, hospitaller and charitable projects and initiatives in the United States and abroad, particularly in healthcare and hospice care, disaster relief, education programs and children’s causes. The Savoy Foundation is an NGO at the United Nations.

ABOUT THE ROYAL HOUSE OF SAVOY

The Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy  http://www.ordinidinasticicasasavoia.it/  are among the oldest orders of Knighthood and Merit in the world.  The Savoy Orders are headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and have 35 Delegations worldwide that support the Orders ongoing charitable works. Their origins and their principles, traditions and humanitarian goals date back a thousand years. HRH Prince Victor Emmanuel, Prince of Naples and Duke of Savoy, is Head of the House of Savoy and Grand Master of the Savoy Orders.  Prince Emanuele Filiberto is his son and hereditary Prince and currently serves as President of the Council of the Savoy Orders. Among his hereditary titles is Crown Prince of Italy.

In 1946, when the Kingdom of Italy came to an end, the House of Savoy was the Europe’s oldest reigning dynasty. The heads of the House of Savoy had ruled, first as counts, then as dukes and finally as kings, for almost a thousand years. Descended in the direct male line from a tenth-century vassal of the Holy Roman Emperor, the Savoys ruled the Alpine state of Aosta, as well as Savoy, where they established themselves at Chambery. Their dominion was eventually extended to include Piedmont and other territories in what are now Italy, France and Switzerland. By the eighteenth century, the Savoys were kings of Sicily and then Sardinia, and it was under their aegis that the Italian states were united by 1871.

The Royal Family’s heritage can be seen in castles and palaces, and in the beauty of the northwestern Italian city of Turin, the Savoys’ magnificent capital in the heart of Piedmont in the 16th into the 19th centuries.  The dynastic chivalric traditions of the House of Savoy continue. The Order of the Annunciation and the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, two of the world’s oldest knightly institutions, are still alive today, epitomizing the dynasty’s medieval spirit while supporting very modern charitable works in Italy, Switzerland, France, Japan, the United States and elsewhere. Chivalry lives. Today, the House of Savoy remains one of the oldest royal dynasties.

IMPACT19 Amazon delivers innovation and access

In the midst of a recent snowstorm, the Internet Marketing Association (IMA) powered through the weather to experience an incredible tour of Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, Washington. IMA brought together leaders from all around the world, such as the International Executive Council (IEC) and the Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIASC), to obtain insiders knowledge about upcoming technology and enhancements that will be introduced to change the way people work, operate and live their lives.

On top of receiving a first-hand look into the ‘world of Amazon’, we made sure to show our guests the best things Seattle has to offer; which included gourmet dinners, wine tastings, site seeing, and more.

We also gave our guests a private tour of the captivating ‘Amazon Spheres’. The Spheres are an area designated for “Amazonians” to work, collaborate and relax. The lush greens, bonsai trees and towering waterfalls really fired up our group and gave us bigger thinking as it relates to modern workplace environments.

Following the Spheres, there were a series of consecutive presentations by Amazon executives and a special guest appearance by NFL great, Jed Collins, on “How to consistently stay ahead and maintain a Day 1 philosophy”, Amazon Alexa – “How voice Ai is changing the world”, Amazon is so much more than retail “Studios, Music, Planes”, It’s all in the cloud “How AWS is the true backbone of the web”, “How consumers think and act in 2019 – Leveraging consumer Search trends to understand what consumers are really think”.

Next everyone was directed to download the ‘Amazon Go’ app, which allowed us to get a look at the retail store of the future. Amazon’s classified camera technology is what enables this store to function the way it does. You simply walk in; pick up your items and then walk out. EASY!

Lastly, we all made our way to Woodinville Wine Country for an incredible wine tasting experience followed by dinner and a live performance from a local known artist. The perfect way to end a 3-day IMPACT event.

Amazon serves on the board of directors for the Internet Marketing Association. If you’d like access to their executives or learn more about the business feel free to message me and I’ll help you.

Mary’s place is a non-profit benefactor of our efforts and please take a moment to learn more about this local charity in Seattle. The organization backed by Amazon, provides a safe, warm place to stay the night for moms, dads, and kids in need within local communities.

Thank you to the CMO’s and leaders from Under Armor, William Lyon Homes, Amazon, the NFL and University of Washington’s Bothell School of business for collaboration at IMPACT19.

How Stitch Fix Shows They Truly Care About Their Customers

By Ernan Roman, ERDM Corp

Chevron CEO and Chairman John S. Watson recently noted, upon his retirement, “The sooner you learn about reading people, listening to others and building relationships, the sooner you will be more effective.” And though Watson was referring to business relationships, this comment should be taken to heart by marketers regarding how they build relationships with customers. Why Brands Need to Care Social Media Today reported that “consumer service interactions via Twitter have increased 250% in the last few years and an estimated 67% of consumers now use social media networks to seek resolution for issues and 88% are less likely to buy from companies who leave complaints in social media unanswered.” This is reiterated by the Deloitte study, The Growing Power of Consumers, in which it was noted, “To increase consumer trust, businesses must engage more closely with [the] consumer… When a consumer reaches out to a company for resolution they want rapid acknowledgment of their interaction and actionable assurance that the company will try to make things right.” And, this is especially true for Millennials. Joe Gagnon, senior vice president and general manager of cloud solutions at Aspect Software commented, “…millennials are more ‘experience-loyal’ than ‘brand-loyal,’ …It’s imperative that businesses adapt their customer service strategies to deliver an interaction strategy that addresses millennial engagement preferences.” Key point to remember: Businesses need to mitigate their risks by monitoring consumer communications. By putting in place the means to track consumer sentiment, companies can identify areas of concern. This is a case of “if you don’t know what’s broken you can’t fix it.”

Evite Challenges America’s Children to Make a Difference

Evite, the world’s leading online and text invitation service, has challenged America’s children to change the world one birthday at a time. “Evite Birthday Heroes,” a campaign celebrating children who donate their birthdays to charitable causes, kicks off this month with a goal of having one million birthdays donated. The campaign is part of Evite’s year-long 20th birthday celebration. To kick off Birthday Heroes, Evite is highlighting Olivia A., Birthday Hero #1 from Louisville, KY. For her 13th birthday, Olivia teamed up with Uspiritus, a nonprofit dedicated to healing the hearts and minds of vulnerable youth. Olivia turned her birthday party into a community service event packing ‘Birthday Kits’ for residents of Uspiritus, some of whom have never celebrated their birthday or received a birthday present. “For my 13th birthday I told my mother I have many wonderful games, toys, and clothing and I was grateful for what I have. I’m inspired by the movement today across the country by wanting to help those less fortunate than me,” said Olivia. Watch the video of Olivia’s story and learn more about becoming a birthday hero here: evite.com/birthday#heroes. “There is a movement across this country that children of all ages want to be a part of,” said Victor Cho, Chief Executive Officer at Evite. “We want to be the service that helps children make a difference in another person’s life. Only a fraction of our kids’ birthday events has donations enabled. Olivia is the tip of the iceberg of children who feel empowered and want to make a change.” Evite is encouraging Birthday Heroes to use its Evite Donations feature, powered by Pledging, to accept charitable donations for a favorite cause, directly via an Evite invitation. Evite never charges a fee to make donations. Constituting approximately 30% of Evite’s charitable events, Kids Birthday events account for almost 20% of the $6 million raised in Evite Donations history. For 20 years, Evite has been the world’s leading digital platform for bringing people together. With free, easy-to-use invitation designs, inspirational video content, and a private sharing feed for photos and conversations, Evite makes coming together face-to-face effortless and more memorable for its 100+ million annual users. The company has sent over 2 billion event invitations in its history and currently handles hundreds of millions of RSVPs every year. Launched in 1998, Evite is celebrating its 20th birthday all year long here.
