This April, the IMA supported Pepperdine University in presenting a standout event featuring globally renowned psychologist and best-selling author Dr. Jordan Peterson. Held at the Malibu campus, the evening drew a packed audience of students, academics, business leaders, and community members eager to engage with Dr. Peterson’s perspectives on personal responsibility, freedom of thought, and the meaning of life in today’s increasingly complex world.
“The foundational principle that is stabilizing the world, and maybe the cosmos itself, is the principle of upward striving and voluntary self-sacrifice. It’s a moral and spiritual act—a commitment to aim upward, toward improvement, redemption, and ultimately, toward God, who represents the infinite ideal at the peak of that ascent.” —Dr. Jordan B. Peterson
Dr. Peterson has written four books, Maps of Meaning, an academic work presenting a new scientifically grounded theory of religious and political belief and the best-selling 12 Rules for Life’ and Beyond Order, which have sold more than 14 million copies. His fourth book, We Who Wrestle with God, was released in November.
Dr. Peterson’s international lecture tour has sold out more than four hundred venues, providing live insight into the structure of mythology and narrative to hundreds of thousands of people. For 20 years, he taught some of the most highly regarded courses at Harvard and the University of Toronto, while publishing more than one hundred well-cited scientific papers with his students and coauthors.
