The Literacy Project’s Sue Grant to Speak at LA Times’ OC Inspirational Women in Business Luncheon, Discussing ‘The Power of Giving Back’

Sue Grant

Sue Grant, Founder of The Literacy Project, will take the stage at the LA Times’ OC Inspirational Women in Business Luncheon on March 28th to speak on a special panel called, “The Power of Giving Back.” This panel discussion will focus on the significant role that women business leaders have had in the success of the nonprofit community in Southern California. Honored to be both a nominee and a panelist at this year’s event, Grant values every opportunity she has to share the mission and impact of The Literacy Project. Grant has cultivated an impactful career within the nonprofit industry that has spanned more than two decades. In the last 24 months, Grant has elevated the reach of her beloved nonprofit, The Literacy Project, through dedicated efforts locally and internationally. Taking her mission to a global stage, Grant was awarded a top 5 finish at the World Literacy Summit, where she was asked to present to over 600 guests from 83 countries at Oxford University in London. Under her leadership, Grant has helped raise over $5.1 million to provide a reading program at “no cost” to both the child and school within four states. The nonprofit’s 30-hour program significantly improves a child’s ability to read, averaging skill increases from 76% to 129%. The agency has also donated $1.96 million worth of reading games to 49,014 family members, promoting family literacy.

The Literacy Project recently announced the return of SAVOR Newport Beach, which will be back at Newport Beach County Club on Friday, September 13th. This outdoor “Napa-style” dining experience will once again feature a collection of fine cuisine, wine, and art, along with vintage and luxury automobiles. Open to the public, with tickets for sale in late summer 2024, the event will honor and recognize four of the most celebrated professionals in their fields of interest for their contributions to the Newport Beach community (TBD). All proceeds will benefit The Literacy Project which serves our most vulnerable children with the gift of literacy.
