6 Less Known Ways to Create an Awesome Brand

By Camila Merashi

A strong brand is vital for your business. Whether you start a business from scratch or buy an
established one, the first thing that you will be required to do for it to grow is to create brand
awareness. Branding supports advertising, enhances trust, motivates customers, and makes
customer acquisition easy.

Below are the six less-known ways through which you can create an awesome brand.

1. Define brand purpose

Apart from making profits, there needs to be another reason or purpose for your brand’s existence. For you to succeed in creating a strong brand, it is essential that you also focus your energy to clearly defining the purpose of your brand. Through this, you will be able to attach people to your brand. There are many brands in the market, and the only thing that will set you apart from the rest of them is a brand purpose. A brand purpose will give your customers expectations and also act as an idealistic motivator.

2. Brand packaging

In simple terms, brand packaging refers to branding efforts that are done through packaging. Brand packaging will make your brand stronger and at the same time improve customer interaction. It also gives you a chance to set your brand apart from the others. Good packaging design will help the customers identify with your brand more and also facilitate customers’ purchasing decisions. For this reason, you need to be particular when picking a theme, colour scheme and type of packaging for your products. Brand packaging is one of the most effective ways of creating a strong brand.

3. Adopting a motto

Do you have a motto and slogan for your brand? If no, then you are missing the point. If you look around, you will notice that all businesses, big or small, have a motto. These are there for a reason. It is what companies use to tell their customers what makes their business special. It is a simple and straightforward way of communicating to customers the benefits they should expect from the brand. A brand motto needs to be declarative and catchy. Note that if it is not done well, it might not work for the brand. It is a differentiation strategy that will help the consumers remember your brand as they go shopping.

4. SEO

Traditional marketing strategies will not give you better results than search engine optimisation (SEO) would when done right. SEO refers to the process of influencing a brand’s website visibility. SEO strategies like link building will improve brand awareness. Through link building, a brand can reach a bigger audience hence improve a brand’s recognition. Other SEO strategies that can work for your brand creation include content marketing, using branded keywords and targeting niche audiences. While doing all of it yourself can be difficult, maybe hire an organic seo consultant to help you. Be careful when you make your choice as there is black hat seo in existence that can spoil your brand by spamming it for short term results.

5. Branded visuals

As they say, pictures are worth a thousand words. True to that, using visuals is one of the best ways of creating brand awareness. Visuals envelop both pictures and videos. With that, you should focus on getting your logos right, using quality images, having a consistent theme and also using images that are relevant and reflect your brand.

6. Create a brand story

Storytelling will make all the difference in creating your brand. You can start by creating your past, present, and future story, create a statement concerning the existence of your brand and create a story in line with that statement. The goal of creating a brand story is to stimulate an emotional reaction from your audience, which is also good for your brand.

For your business to grow, the creation of a strong brand and identity is essential. Starting by defining the purpose of your brand, brand packaging, creating a slogan for your business, having a brand story, using visuals and incorporating SEO will go a long way in making your brand stand out and gain an edge over its competition.

The Impact of the LATM Program on School Attendance, Academic Acheivement, and On-Time Grade Promotion

The Los Angeles Team Mentoring (LATM) program aims to guide middle school students growing up in challenging urban environments to recognize and reach their full potential as members of our community. Through a schoolbased team approach to mentoring, young adolescents are given the tools and support necessary to make positive choices during a critical period in their lives.

The LATM’s latest study details the shared success conducted within LAUSD’s system.  It’s a longitudinal study that follows LATM youth to see if the positive impact is sustained through high school, years after they leave the program.

No tutoring or academic support is provided,  as all results are based against the control group, with similar youth within LAUSD who do not attend the program.

The Trillion Dollar Power Play: Opportunity Zones

Let that word “trillion” sink in for a moment. Do I have your attention?

Good. Because Opportunity Zones just may be one of the biggest business opportunities of our generation.

  • More than $2 trillion in unrealized gains currently sit on the ledgers of investors and corporations, according to the Economic Innovation Group.
  • Investing these funds directly in 8,700 Opportunity Zones (or 1 in 8 U.S. Census tracts) for 10 years or more would eliminate any federal taxes due on those gains – and potentially reduce poverty via job creation and income growth related to those investments.

This July, we organized some of the brightest minds on this topic for a select group of attendees in Orange County, CA. So what is an “Opportunity Zone”, and how do businesses and communities ultimately benefit? First, some historical context.

Opportunity Zones originally stemmed from a discussion between Sean Parker (co-founder of Napster) and Peter Thiel (PayPal) back in 2015, as both were interested in creating a tax-efficient mechanism that would encourage capital investment in historically low-income tract census areas around the country.

Parker and Thiel found political allies in Sen. Cory Booker (D) and Sen. Tim Scott (R), who co-authored a bill to create Opportunity Zones. Over 8700 low-income census tracts were identified around the country, and the bill became part of the sweeping 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The Opportunity Zone Program provides for the deferral of long term capital gains, and potential for a step up in basis and elimination of long term capital gains.

The U.S. Treasury confirmed Opportunity Zone maps in June of 2018 and issued the first set of regulations in October of 2018.

2019: What We Know and How It Works

Throughout 2019, the IRS and U.S. Treasury have released additional guidance around Opportunity Zones, and one of the most significant included guidance around operating businesses sited within an Opportunity Zone and funded by a Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund (QOF):

Safe harbors: Businesses funded by a QOF can now qualify for tax incentives, as long as they satisfy any of three “safe harbors”:

  1. At least 50% of work hours or amounts paid to employees or independent contractors are spent within the Opportunity Zone, or
  2. At least half of the company’s gross income is generated by tangible property of the business, and
  3. The management or operations are based in the Opportunity Zone.

Reinvestment: Qualified opportunity funds now have a grace period of a single year after the sale of an Opportunity Zone asset to reinvest the proceeds in other Opportunity Zone assets.

The reinvestment feature provides fund managers the option to hold cash and pivot to other properties if a fund’s original investments are not performing at expected levels. This feature should also prove popular with Opportunity Zone Fund investors.

Partnership debt: Investors originally worried that partnerships with debt would not provide a basis adjustment, which is important for distributions. Partnership debt is now included in the investor’s basis and does not impact the amount of the deferred gain in 2026, or the gain from appreciation if the partner sells their interest in the Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund after the 10-year holding period.

Orange County Perspective

Our panel included the aforementioned Carey Ransom (Managing Partner OC4 Ventures), Kevin Maloney (Investor Relations RevOZ Capital), and Johnney Zhang (CEO, Primior). All have created early success with the Opportunity Zone vehicle:

Johnney Zhang, CEO Primior

Primior: On June 26, 2019, Primior celebrated the groundbreaking of its’ first Opportunity Zone project, the ambitious First Harbor Plaza Development in Santa Ana, CA. This project has been celebrated by city and community leaders, and it will positively transform an important section of Santa Ana’s core:

Kevin Maloney, Investor Relations RevOZ Capital

RevOZ Capital: Kevin Maloney (Investor Relations RevOZ) provided our guests with a unique view into the firm’s activity in this space, as they evaluate a pipeline of over 100 Opportunity Zone deals around the country. RevOZ Capital

Carey Ransom, Managing Partner OC4 Ventures

OC4 Ventures: Carey Ransom (Managing Partner OC4 Ventures) provided an inside look at how the Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund will create a tech incubator for early-stage technology companies here in Orange County. This vehicle will attract capital investment, create jobs, and help diversify the local economy beyond the historical powerhouses of real estate and construction. OC4 Ventures

Final Thoughts

HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia to Attend Savoy Foundation’s Second Annual Charity Gala in the City of Stars Benefiting Caterina’s Club

The Prince of Venice and The Prince of Piedmont will be the Guest of Honor at the “Notte di Savoia Los Angeles” on April 6, 2019 at the Montage Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, California – March 8, 2019 — HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy will be the guest of honor at the second annual Notte di Savoia charity gala on April 6, 2019 in Los Angeles.  The white- and black-tie charity gala, taking place at the Montage Beverly Hills Resort, will benefit Caterina’s Club, which provides 25,000 weekly warm meals, affordable housing assistance, and job training to homeless and low-income families throughout Southern California.  The Notte di Savoia has been organized by the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, continuing the spirit and tradition of charitable giving and hospitaller care of the historic, dynastic orders of knighthood and merit of the thousand-year old Royal House of Savoy.

The elegant Mediterranean-style Montage Beverly Hills will provide the sumptuous surroundings for the Notte di Savoia, recreating the traditions and pageantry reminiscent of 19th-century European court events. Following a glittering outdoor reception on the elevated terrace, dignitaries and guests, with gentlemen resplendent in tailcoats and wearing colorful chivalric and military decorations, and ladies in formal gowns, will proceed to dinner in the Marquesa Ballroom to strains of historic Savoy royal anthems and marches popular when Italy was a monarchy under the House of Savoy.

The guest of honor, His Royal Highness Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, is the grandson of the late King Umberto II, Italy’s last reigning sovereign. His ancestor, King Victor Emmanuel II, united the nation of Italy under his rule between 1861 and 1870.

Prince Emanuele Filiberto said:  “The Savoy Orders are my family’s ancient orders of knighthood which date back to the Crusades. They have traditionally been devoted to charitable works, and recognize individuals for their contributions in public service, medicine, the arts, music, government, business and philanthropy. Caterina’s Club and the work of Chef Bruno Serato, a Savoy knight, is a great and contemporary cause to support in our royal tradition of assistance to the less fortunate,” the Prince concluded.

The American Delegation of Savoy Orders, through its charitable arm, the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, contributes to humanitarian, hospitaller and charitable projects and initiatives in the United States and abroad, particularly in healthcare and hospice care, disaster relief, education programs and children’s causes. The Savoy Foundation is an NGO at the United Nations.

The Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy  http://www.ordinidinasticicasasavoia.it/  are among the oldest orders of Knighthood and Merit in the world.  The Savoy Orders are headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and have 35 Delegations worldwide that support the Orders ongoing charitable works. Their origins and their principles, traditions and humanitarian goals date back a thousand years. HRH Prince Victor Emmanuel, Prince of Naples and Duke of Savoy, is Head of the House of Savoy and Grand Master of the Savoy Orders.  Prince Emanuele Filiberto is his son and hereditary Prince and currently serves as President of the Council of the Savoy Orders. Among his hereditary titles is Crown Prince of Italy.

In 1946, when the Kingdom of Italy came to an end, the House of Savoy was the Europe’s oldest reigning dynasty. The heads of the House of Savoy had ruled, first as counts, then as dukes and finally as kings, for almost a thousand years. Descended in the direct male line from a tenth-century vassal of the Holy Roman Emperor, the Savoys ruled the Alpine state of Aosta, as well as Savoy, where they established themselves at Chambery. Their dominion was eventually extended to include Piedmont and other territories in what are now Italy, France and Switzerland. By the eighteenth century, the Savoys were kings of Sicily and then Sardinia, and it was under their aegis that the Italian states were united by 1871.

The Royal Family’s heritage can be seen in castles and palaces, and in the beauty of the northwestern Italian city of Turin, the Savoys’ magnificent capital in the heart of Piedmont in the 16th into the 19th centuries.  The dynastic chivalric traditions of the House of Savoy continue. The Order of the Annunciation and the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, two of the world’s oldest knightly institutions, are still alive today, epitomizing the dynasty’s medieval spirit while supporting very modern charitable works in Italy, Switzerland, France, Japan, the United States and elsewhere. Chivalry lives. Today, the House of Savoy remains one of the oldest royal dynasties.

Headquartered in New York City, the American Delegation of Savoy Orders, which includes the United States of America, is among the 35 delegations of the Savoy Orders located throughout Europe, the Americas and Japan.

The American Foundation of Savoy Orders, Incorporated, http://www.savoia.org a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, supports local, national, and international charities focusing on medical, educational, and humanitarian fields, including philanthropy for hospitals and relief agencies for children, the poor, sick and elderly. The Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization in Roster Consultative Statues with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Caterina’s Club’s mission is to provide warm meals, affordable housing assistance, and job training to homeless and low-income families throughout Southern California. It is supported by a vision where we are creating a modicum of consistency in these children’s lives through something as simple yet meaningful as a nightly dinner. http://www.caterinasclub.org/
